How David Trotter's Crew Plans a Job Before Any Truck Shows Up
Every project TLC takes on in Morris and the surrounding towns starts with a walk-through of the property, not a phone quote. David Trotter or a member of his crew looks at drainage, soil, sun exposure, and what's already growing before recommending garden design, lawn care, irrigation work, or mulch. That first visit is what shapes the plan below.

Step One: A Site Walk That Actually Looks at Your Soil and Slope
We walk the property with the homeowner or property manager, note where water pools after rain, check existing beds and turf condition, and talk through what's not working. For irrigation jobs, this includes locating the water source and mapping zones before anyone digs. For garden design, we note existing plantings so new beds work with the site instead of against it.
Step Two: A Written Plan Scoped to the Actual Job
After the walk-through, we put together a scope covering the specific work: irrigation zones and head placement, mulch depth and square footage, or the lawn care schedule needed for the season. Mulch installation includes clearing old material and debris, edging beds, and laying fresh mulch at a consistent depth so it holds moisture and doesn't wash out with the first storm.
Step Three: The Work, Done by the Same Crew Start to Finish
One crew sees a job through from start to cleanup, whether it's installing a new irrigation system, cutting in garden beds, or spreading mulch. Debris and old material leave the property with us; we don't leave a pile behind for the homeowner to deal with.
Step Four: A Final Walk-Through and Maintenance Plan
Before we leave, we walk the finished work with the customer, run irrigation systems through a test cycle if that's part of the job, and go over care instructions for new plantings or turf. For customers who want ongoing lawn care or irrigation maintenance, we set up that schedule at this point.
TLC works with residential, commercial, and municipal properties in and nearby communities including Minooka, Channahon, and Coal City.
We don't quote a job over the phone without seeing the property first. Soil, slope, and what's already there change the plan every time.
